The Lions
Overview
The Lions are two of the most iconic mountains in British Columbia, visible from across Vancouver and the North Shore. This guided adventure takes you deep into the mountains above Lions Bay, offering incredible views of Howe Sound, the Coast Mountains, and the famous twin peaks that define Vancouver’s skyline.
Why You'll Love This Hike
Experience one of Vancouver’s most iconic mountain landmarks
Incredible views of Howe Sound and the Coast Mountains
A challenging and rewarding full-day adventure
Beautiful forest trails, ridgelines, and alpine scenery
Small group experience with a local guide
Pickup Time & Total Duration
Pickup from Vancouver is at 7:30 AM. Guests can expect the full experience to take approximately 10 hours round trip, including transportation, hiking time, breaks, and time at the viewpoint.
The hike itself typically takes around 8 to 9 hours, depending on group pace and trail conditions.
What To Expect
This is a challenging mountain hike with significant elevation gain, steep sections, uneven terrain, and a long sustained climb. The route travels through beautiful coastal forest before reaching higher viewpoints with spectacular mountain and ocean scenery.
The standard guided hike visits the Lions viewpoint area and does not include the final technical summit scramble unless the scramble add-on is selected during booking.
Optional Summit Scramble Add-On
Guests looking for an even bigger adventure can select the Summit Scramble Add-On when booking.
The summit scramble is a more exposed and technical section beyond the standard viewpoint route. It is only suitable for confident, experienced hikers who are comfortable with heights, scrambling, steep terrain, and more serious mountain exposure.
Selecting the add-on does not guarantee the summit scramble will be completed. The scramble is only attempted if weather, trail conditions, timing, and guest ability are considered appropriate by your guide. Safety comes first, and your guide may decide not to proceed with the scramble at any point.
If the scramble is not attempted due to unsafe conditions or guide discretion, guests will still complete the standard Lions viewpoint hike.
What's Included
Round-trip transportation from Vancouver
First Aid certified guide
Complimentary water and snacks
Small group experience
What To Bring
Hiking boots or trail shoes with strong grip
Daypack
Lunch and extra snacks
Weather-appropriate layers
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a camera
Fitness Level
Challenging. Recommended for hikers with strong fitness who are comfortable with steep climbs, long hiking days, and significant elevation gain.
Guests selecting the Summit Scramble Add-On should have previous scrambling experience or be highly confident on steep, exposed terrain.
Important Notes
The standard tour does not include the final technical scramble unless the Summit Scramble Add-On is selected during booking. The scramble is weather-dependent, condition-dependent, and never guaranteed. Mountain weather and trail conditions can change quickly, and your guide may adjust the route, timing, or turnaround point if conditions are unsafe.
